Beauty Tip: How to Boost Your Lashes
For years I've heard of this simple beauty trick. All you need to do is apply castor oil to hair that you want to thicken -- anything from your hair to eyebrows and eyelashes. The oil is said to not only thicken existing lashes and prevent breakage, but also promote growth in general. I'm blessed to naturally have a set of long lashes, but I've been wanting to give this trick a try for quite some time now. I figured I had to share my experience. So I finally got my hands on a bottle of castor oil. You might be wondering how in the heck I'm going to apply an oil to something as delicate as my lash line, but fear not, because I'm about to break it all down.
Step 1: get your ducks in a row
You'll want to prep for this beauty hack by picking up a couple of empty mascara tubes with the wand applicators and a funnel or a pipette dropper. I found a kit on Amazon which conveniently contains all the items you'll need, just click here. Next, pick up a bottle of cold-pressed castor oil. I used Swanson's Certified 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Castor Oil.
Step 2: use the funnel or pipette to fill the mascara tubes
Grab a pipette dropper or funnel and get to pouring. You'll want to fill up each tube, but not to the brim. I filled 2 tubes since I'll be applying oil to both my eyelashes and my eyebrows. I figure it's best to keep the two separate for sanitary reasons.
Step 3: apply, apply, apply
Dip the applicator brush into the tube to pick up some oil. Then, swipe the brush along your lashes just as you would with mascara. If you really want to boost results, take a thin eyeliner brush, dip into the oil, and run the brush along your lashline. You'll want to be super careful not to get any oil in your eyes to avoid irritation. It's best to apply right before bed, so the oil has all night to work its sweet magic on your lashes or brows. In the morning, rinse off the oil with water or makeup remover.
Results: stay tuned
I just started to use the oil, but I've been diligently applying it every night. There really isn't a limit on the number of times you can do this per week, bu stick with it and you're bound to see results. I'd love to give you an update in a month or so, so stay tuned.
