4 Must-Have Curly Girl Hair Products
I'm a curly girl and have somewhat of an obsession with trying new products. Lately, I've worked hard to use the products in my cabinet before I buy anything else. But, every now and then I find myself in the beauty section of Target putting one more hair item in my basket. I have thick, curly hair that loves moisture -- creams, butters, leave-ins, and lotions are some of my favorites. For reference, I'm between a 3B and 3C curl pattern. If you need help classifying your curls, check out this helpful curl chart! So to save you some time and a few dollars, I'm going to share 4 of my must-have curly hair products. Each product solves a specific problem I face when caring for my hair. I'll list the products in the order in which I apply them. So, let's get started!
1. Oyin Handmade Oh My Glide!
Oh My Glide! by Oyin Handmade is a prestyling detangler with avocado oil and organic aloe vera. It hits 3 very important notes for me: it smells like a delicious citrus orchard, is reasonably priced, and actually works. I like to start my hair routine off by detangling my curls before I start applying anything else. This stuff is a great at coating and nourishing my strands, without weighing it down.
2. Kinky-Curly Knot Today Natural Leave In & Detangler
While the name sounds more like a tongue-twister, this leave-in conditioner has definitely become a staple product in my hair routine. I absolutely love this stuff. I believe one of the first products to touch my curls should be a leave-in and this certainly does the trick. It helps with tangles and locks in moisture all day long. Plus, it contains botanical extracts and is cruelty-free.
3. Miss Jessie's Multicultural Curls
Miss Jessie's Multicultural Curls is packed with good stuff, like safflower oil and olive fruit oil, and leaves out the bad stuff, like parabens and parrafin. What I love most about this styling product is how well it defines my curls, while never leaving my hair feeling crunchy. The last thing I want is a head of hair that resembles a pack of ramen noodles. I also appreciate Miss Jessie's because they create products for those with multi-textured curls and mixed heritage textures. I've currently squeezed my tube of product dry, but I'll definitely be picking up another bottle as soon as my hair product cabinet empties out.
4. The Body Shop Coconut Oil Hair Shine
Last, but not least, is the the Coconut Oil Hair Shine from the Body Shop. I use this at the end of my routine to lock in moisture. The oil is thicker than other coconut oils I've used before, so less is more with this product. I take a dime size of product to tame flyaways and add shine. It's a tiny circular tin, so I often toss this in my bag for touch-ups throughout the day.
If you have any favorite curly hair products, let me know! I'm always on the hunt for different products.
